Free Learning Suggestions?

Food Safety MusicI’m getting to it later than I would like this month, but the latest issue of the Free Learning Monitor should hit inboxes later this week. I’ve got a pretty good selection of items, but thought it would also be good to solicit input from Mission to Learn readers. So, if you have got anything, either comment here, or send me an e-mail at jcobb_at_missiontolearn.com. (Replace the “_at_” with a “@”.)

Pretty much anything you interpret as “learning” is fair game, but some examples might include:

  • Free online courses
  • Online videos that teach something
  • Upcoming free Webinars (I have a particular interest in finding more of these this month)
  • Podcasts that teach something
  • Learning community sites
  • Wikis devoted to a particular subject
  • Free eBooks
  • Learning games

Let me hear from you, and I’ll be sure to credit the source and include a link to your blog or Web site in the Free Learning Monitor and in an update to this post.

And naturally, if you haven’t subscribed to the Free Learning Monitor yet…well, what are you waiting for?!

Update:

Here are suggestions that I received. I have made these into featured items in this month’s Free Learning Monitor. If you have suggestions for next month, please comment here or send me an e-mail (address above):

  • Food Safety Music
A U.C. Davis Website that features “Dr. Carl Winter’s hilarious and educational food safety music parodies. With a few clicks you can be on your way learning (and hearing) about food safety through song and video. It’s all here for you - 27 downloadable songs, Powerpoint slide presentations with accompanying lyrics and clip-art, lyric files, Flash animations, live concert footage, scheduled performances, and media accounts.”
–Thanks to Celisa Steele for sending in this one
  • OER Commons
I’ve mentioned OER Commons before on Mission to Learn (see OER - Open Educational Resources), but it is well worth mentioning again
OER Commons, a global teaching and learning network of free-to-use resources – from K-12 lesson plans to college courseware – for you to use, tag, rate, and review. Check out some of the Featured and Popular items like:
